Billy Joel has played arenas, stadiums, and a record-setting monthly residency at Madison Square Garden. What he’s never done is sit down and take live calls from fans. That changes Thursday, Sept. 24, when he hosts his first-ever live call-in special at 2 p.m. ET on The Billy Joel Channel, available on SiriusXM satellite radio and the SiriusXM app through Sept. 30.
The special arrives just weeks after Joel went public with a serious health update. He revealed he was diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, a brain condition that caused balance problems, and that his doctors told him the volume at his concerts was affecting his brain in a way comparable to a concussion at every show. He has paused live performing while he goes through physical therapy. In his own words: “Don’t worry about me. I’m not going anywhere. I’m here. I’m still here.”
Fans can submit questions by video, voice, or text, or call in live at 1-844-365-BILLY during the broadcast. It’s a rare chance to speak directly with a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer whose catalog spans more than five decades, from “Piano Man” to “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” Whether you want to ask about his health, his songwriting, or the memory tied to your favorite track, the door is open.
What would you ask Billy Joel if you got through? Tell us in the comments.
